South Carolina Taxpayers begin Receiving Rebate Checks

South Carolina individual taxpayers that filed their 2021 tax return by the October 17, 2022 deadline may have recently received a rebate payment from the South Carolina Department of Revenue (SCDOR).  These payments are related to South Carolina legislation that was passed back in the summer.  All individual taxpayers that file a 2021 South Carolina tax return on or before February 15, 2023 are eligible for a rebate of up to $800.  The rebate will equal the lessor of: (1) $800 or (2) the amount of the tax liability reported on the individuals 2021 South Carolina individual income tax return.

Please note that the SCDOR will be issuing another round of rebate payments in March 2023 to eligible SC individual taxpayers that file their 2021 return after the October 17th deadline but before the February 15, 2023 extended deadline (related to Hurricane Ian relief).
