Well Wishes for Retirement to Sherry Johnson, CPA, Partner

By Jeremy Bass

Sherry Johnson started her career in 1979 at Oscar N. Harris & Associates. She has worked in the same building for 43 busy seasons, where she has been the practice manager for the firm for many years. She has been the Partner in Charge in the Dunn Office since the merger with BRC in 2017. Sherry was instrumental in leading the Dunn office in the transition after the merger.

She was the first female CPA in Harnett County and excelled in what, at that time, was a male dominated profession. She paved a path for other female CPAs in our market and has been an inspiration to many.

Sherry is known for her busy season mottos and has been an encourager to many over the years. One motto that comes to mind is “Do not procrastinate.” We can certainly use that advice during busy season.

Aside from her encouraging character, Sherry is known for her technical skills. She is truly a trusted and respected advisor. Many of her clients date back to the beginning of her career and have stayed with the firm over the years.

For the past 43 years, Sherry has loved being a CPA and coming into work each day. We have all learned so much from Sherry. The most important thing she taught us is to enjoy what we do and go to work each day ready to serve our clients.

Her wisdom, insight, calming presence, joyfulness, and positive attitude will be missed. We appreciate all Sherry has done for the firm over the years and for the impact she has had on those she has trained and been an example to. We hope she truly enjoys her retirement, and we appreciate her leadership and service to the firm and our clients.
