History
Bernard Robinson & Company, LLP, was formed in November 1946 when Bernard "Bernie" Robinson started his own practice after leaving the IRS, where he was assistant district director for central North Carolina. More than 60 years later, the descendants of Bernie's first three clients are still being served by the firm. Many of his early clients had been examined by Bernie while he was with the IRS, and they wanted him on their team instead of as an adversary.
Bernie's first office was in the Jefferson Standard Life building in downtown Greensboro. He was joined in 1949 by his brother, Joseph Robinson, and in 1950 by Joe Kent. Bernie, Joe and Joe practiced and prospered together for nearly 40 years until Joe Robinson retired in 1988. Joe Kent retired in 1989 and Bernie Robinson passed away in 1994.
The firm moved into its own building in December 1986 and remained there until it outgrew that facility. Bernard Robinson & Company moved to its current location in July 2005.
We have grown to a staff of 80 employees, but our focus has stayed on the quality and client service that was the basis of the firm's beginning.
